# CompanyProof agent quickstart

CompanyProof resolves legal entities, retrieves available registry profiles and checks supported company identity claims. Public discovery contains no private company records or API credentials.

## Authenticate
ChatGPT and Claude remote connectors use CompanyProof OAuth. Compatible custom clients can send a scoped CompanyProof Bearer API key. Keep credentials in a backend secret store. Live data requires an active evaluation or eligible paid account; the verification sandbox uses the documented test fixture.

## Complete the workflow
1. search_companies: provide identifier_type, identifier and country. Retain the returned entity ID; confirm a namesake or ambiguous match before continuing.
2. get_company_profile: pass company_id from the chosen result. Inspect section_status; unavailable data is not a negative finding.
3. verify_company_claims: provide the company and supported assertions. This writes a proof and consumes claim credits. Supply an idempotency key when retrying and use the client's approved budget/permission policy.

## Automatic verification fields
registered_name, registration_number, status, incorporation_date, vat_number, legal_form. Financial and ownership profile records are separate from the automatic claim-verification contract.

## Evidence and cost
Preserve source name, URL, source date where returned, and retrieval time. Accepted live search and profile requests consume one shared credit each; verification is metered by accepted claims. ## Runnable REST example
Download https://companyproof.ai/developer-examples/quickstart.mjs. Set COMPANYPROOF_API_KEY securely in the environment of your backend, then run node quickstart.mjs with a registration number and ISO alpha-2 country. The example performs search and profile retrieval only; two accepted requests normally consume two credits.
